We believe the Bible consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments to be the only inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, without error in its original writing both in doctrine and historical details, and that all true knowledge is consistent with its revelation.

 

         We believe that there is one self-existent God who has always been and will always be, manifest in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that knowing Him truly is the foundation of all knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

 

         We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin, that He is the Savior of mankind through His death on the cross, that He rose from the dead and ascended to God, and that He will return again and will raise those who have believed in Him to reign with Him in power and glory throughout all eternity.

 

         We believe in the brotherhood of all believers who, through faith, have received the salvation provided by God's grace through the death of Jesus Christ.

 

         We believe that children belong to God who has given the responsibility and authority for their education to their parents and that it is their responsibility to protect this parental right.

 

            Although Keystone Academy is not connected with any church or denomination, we subscribe to and operate within the context of the doctrines of historic protestant Christianity. Our views on the nature and purpose of education are distinctly and uniquely tempered by and directed toward affirming these fundamental Christian doctrines.

 

            We recognize that within this context, there are specific points on which Christians may differ, e.g., baptism, gifts of the spirit, etc., and it is not our purpose to engage in settling such controversies.

 

            We have never required families to sign or subscribe to a statement of faith as a condition of enrollment and, occasionally, have had families who hold conflicting beliefs or no formal religious beliefs. All families who recognize and respect our position have been welcome.

 

            Such an "inclusive" policy does not mean, however, that we recognize all beliefs as equally valid. Nor does it mean that we will tolerate the propagation of other belief systems at Academy related activities or through the personal contacts that may develop through Academy events.

 

            We have been, and continue to be, committed to a policy of reserving leadership positions for those who hold to a compatible doctrinal position. This applies to anyone who occupies a "position of influence" within the school and includes those who teach Academy Day classes.

 

            Most of the families who join Keystone fit within the context of Christianity described above and expect that they and their children will be affirmed in their beliefs through their involvement with Keystone. We recognize this expectation and hold it as a serious responsibility which we attempt to meet.

 

            However, even among bible-believing Christians, there are different life-styles and standards of behavior. We cannot, as a school, police every relationship that may develop through school activities. Parents need to monitor and supervise their children's relationships and ask about personal beliefs or standards if they are uncertain.
